I liked the simplicity of this book, although at times it read like scenes out of the Princes Diaries. An ordinary girl finds out she is a Princess and heir to the throne of a desert kingdom. After her initial misgivings she embarks on a marriage with the Crown Prince of the neighbouring country to bring a lasting peace to the war torn region. I think the premise of the story is realistic and the story did well to depict the misgivings that accompany anyone entering into an arranged marriage out of duty and loyalty. Being royal has never been easy, personal wishes, likes and dislikes pale into insignificance in the face of duty and loyalty to one's Country and its people. This fact was well known to Prince Raja, 'ordinary girl' Princess Ruby had difficulty grasping this initially but once she got into her stride she was as dutiful as the best of them.I loved the portrayal of how the couple dealt with the problem of two strangers suddenly coming together for the greater good. This is a simple medium paced book, not spectacular but an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Written in her usual inimitable style once I had got my head round the unlikely scenario of an Arabic Princess living in a small English town working in a Solicitor's office I thoroughly enjoyed this! The sassy and feisty Ruby can hold her own against the complex but appealing Raja who doesn't quite know what has hit him or how to handle her for the best! There were some twists to the plot but the overriding element was the humour which pervaded the book and I was laughing most of the way through.

One of Mrs Lynne's most enjoyable stories in a good while.

I must agree with the previous reviews. This is clearly one of Lynne's most enjoyable stories in a good while. For once the heroine has a back bone and could stand up to the hero. I couldn't leave the book till the end.
